Traders in Edo state under the aegis of Cow Dealers and Butchers Association have said their support for the All Progressives Congress, APC party candidate Mr Godwin Obaseki in the September 10 governorship election in the state is without season.
Speaking at a visit to the market by the Godwin Obaseki Campaign Organisation team yesterday, the traders noted that with their over 10, 000 membership strength, victory is guaranteed for the APC and Obaseki in the election.
Traders in the Tomatoes market who was led by their chairman, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi while stating that the APC has showed them goodwill in the past seven and half years, he said, “We the traders have said we will gather ourselves and anything that is happening in the party, we will be there and any campaign the party is going to, we will be there because we belong to the APC.
He added, “We will support Obaseki to be governor and our people in other area will equally support him whether in the day or night. We have the crowd and since our people have their voters’ card we will vote Obaseki”. He affirmed.
Also speaking, Alhaji Ismaila Kamamawa who is chairman in the goat market thanked Obaseki for deeming it fit to visit them and said, “We have nearly decamped but since you have remembered us today, we are going to vote for APC and Obaseki”
On her part, a Woman leader in the market, Alhajiya Sheriffatu Omofomwan who insisted there was no going back on the choice of Godwin Obaseki as governor of Edo state noted that, “we are ready to vote, we are ready to go and campaign. Any time you are ready, call on us and we will go with you”.
Responding, Mr Ayuba Sedenu who represented the Godwin Obaseki Campaign Organisation explained to the traders that Obaseki as an economic expert, “wants to form a government where someone who is selling tomatoes, goat, and cow will have a clean the environment to do business and make profit and earn your leaving. What Obaseki will do for you is to provide you will interest free loan from time to time that would boost your business.
“These are the areas Obaseki wants to look into and also to ensure that there is security when you are going to the market and you will not be afraid. There will be security to ensure that when you display your items for sales, there will be security for it. These are some of the things that Godwin Obaseki will do when he become governor.
He therefore urged all the traders to “go out mobilize all the people at home and tell them on the 10th of September to use their PVC to vote Obaseki in as governor. When he is governor, we assure you that your problem is over.
“Since APC came onboard you have seen a lot of development, Oshiomhole didn’t forget you, and Obaseki will not forget you also. If you vote for APC today, vote for APC tomorrow, APC will continue to do what will make you vote for them because the party believes in working”. He declared.
