The Onojie of Oria also honoured the governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate and his deputy and running mate, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu with chieftaincy titles in recognition of the administration’s landmark achievements in various sectors of the state.
While Obaseki was conferred with Okuesengbe of Oria Kingdom (He that has come to unify the people), Shaibu was honoured as the Idaghe of Oria Kingdom (I can see the future).
Receiving the governor and the PDP campaign team in his Palace, the monarch hailed the governor for his people-oriented policies and reforms, which he said have translated to improved wellbeing for the majority of Edo people.
The traditional ruler further commended the governor for the developmental projects executed in Ward 8 which include a block of 3 classrooms in Equate Primary School Oria, the renovation of Oria Secondary School, as well as two borehole projects in Oria, among others.
On his part, Obaseki reassured the traditional ruler that his administration will continue to support the people of the kingdom, noting: “Oria is familiar to me as we have supported more than 100 women on a special cassava project; we will do more for both the women and youths of this area.”
The governor said road and electricity are top priorities for his administration, adding: “We generate more electricity than we need but our problem is the distribution company as it has failed in its responsibility.”
He promised to construct major roads in the community and make the food processing factory functional to create more jobs for the youths of the area.
