The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 28 Edo Governorship elections, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has said that he would make Edo one of the most attractive investment destinations in Nigeriaby furthering the infrastructure development strides of the current administration and boosting security in the state.
Speaking at the formal endorsement of his candidacy by the Electronics and Computer Dealers Association in Benin City, Obaseki noted, “Thanks to the institutional reforms and remarkable infrastructure development efforts of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, many local and international investors are now looking to Edo to do businesses.”
“Already, the Azura-Edo Independent Power Plant (IPP) project has taken off, and it will provide about 450MW of electricity in its first phase. Other big investors like Dangote Cement and Integrated Produce City have done their ground breaking, and many more will soon set up their factories here in Edo State.”
On what the focus of his government would be, the APC flagbearer said, “What we must do now is to further the infrastructure development strides of this administration. We will build more roads, so that we can open up more communities and increase their economic activities. Our government will also focus on enhancing security across the state because investors will only come in, and continue doing business here, only if the safety of their investments can be guaranteed.”
“We will ensure that we provide a conducive environment so that businesses, including yours, can flourish, and more people can be empowered with opportunities to develop and prosper. In his remark, the President of the Electronics and Computer Dealers Association of Edo State, Sir Ejike Enemuo, said, “We cannot afford to be sentimental about this election. What we want – and what Edo needs – is a leader who is well enlightened and has a track record of performance and excellence, and that is what you represent. I want to assure you that – comeSeptember 28, all our members, wherever they may be, will come out and vote for you because we believe that you are the best man to lead Edo State on the path of progress and prosperity.”
