The Minister of State, German Foreign Office, Ms. Katja Keul has assured that the German government will collaborate with the Edo State Government to build local capacity and drive investment into the state.
She made the remark during a breakfast session with Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is in Germany to deepen partnership with the German government on a number of skills development, culture and social development projects being implemented in Edo State.
In a tweet after the meeting with the governor, Keul said: “Nigeria is one of Germany's key partners in Africa. We will work closely with @giz-gmbh to expand vocation training. With the return of Benin bronzes, we are laying the foundation for a lasting museum collaboration for today's exchange with Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.”
In the course of his visit to the European country, Governor Obaseki has had a series of engagements with top officials aimed at deepening investment in pursuit of the drive to make the state the most competitive subnational in Africa.
The governor, during his meeting with Ms. Keul, highlighted the need to further the potential for collaboration on regular migration for skilled workforce from Edo State and Nigeria.
The governor also met with members of the German parliament, where he discussed with the Committee on Economic Development and Cooperation (AWZ), ensuring to spotlight achievements in public education, industrialization, healthcare, and energy, making a case for increased investment in the state.
