The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has felicitated with President of the Delta State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Patience Elumeze on her investiture as Dame of St. Sylvester in recognition of her exceptional service to the church and society.
Justice Elumeze is among the 15 distinguished citizens of Delta State honoured by Pope Francis with the prestigious Papal Knights and Dames of St. Gregory and St. Sylvester, for contributing immensely to the growth of the church and society.
Obaseki, who spoke to journalists shortly after the investiture at St. Paul Cathedral, Isele-Uku, in Delta State, hailed the legal luminary for her service to humanity through the church.
He said, “It's about service to God and humanity through the church. This is what we are taught to do and this is why we enjoy His grace.
“For us as a family, we have no choice but to just continue to give ourselves to the service of God Almighty and mankind.”
Reacting to the emergence of his Delta State counterpart, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa as the running mate to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, the governor said politics and democracy are about the will of the majority.
Obaseki noted, “At the end of the day, politics is all about the will of the majority and the majority of the party members have spoken.”
