Obaseki’s housing reforms: Award-winning teacher, Idele, others to get keys to Emotan Gardens units
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, is set to redeem the pledge of a house to a biology teacher at Asoro Grammar School (Senior), Mrs. Benedicta Idele, who emerged 1st runner-up in the 2021 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition.
Mrs. Idele, who has a trail of laurels to her credit, would get keys to a housing unit in Emotan Gardens, the state government’s housing project, developed by the Edo State Development and Property Agency, (EDPA) in Sakponba axis of Edo State.
The biology teacher won the 2021 Best Science Teacher Prize; 2021 Best Public School Teacher; 2021 Overall Best Teacher in Edo State Prize and MTN M-Pulse Educator for 2021.
The EDPA is set to handover completed units of the estate to subscribers at the estate site, in Upper Sakponba, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
The award-winning teacher said she was motivated by the governor’s outstanding support for the education sector in the state, for which he was awarded the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Best Governor of the Year 2019.
According to her, “I took the governor’s award as a challenge. I am happy that I was recognised nationally for the commitment put in the classroom.
“Some people had said the promise of a house was a mere political statement, which may not be fulfilled. But I am happy that I have now been called to come for the handover ceremony of the house.”
“As he has continued to show, the governor is a man of his words and I am happy to be receiving this award. This is a great honour and I am really grateful,” Mrs. Idele added.
