The Edo State Development and Property Corporation (ESDPC) has said that it is on the verge of completing Phase II of its affordable housing scheme, Emotan Gardens City, the development of which commenced in 2018.

In a statement, Executive Chairman of the ESDPC, John Zedomi, noted that of the 147 units of Emotan Garden City Phase II, 95 units are at the finishing stages.

The corporation has also signed agreements with reputable developers for the development of the Phase III of the project, in furtherance of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration's affordable housing scheme.

According to him, “We have made good progress on the development. We have a number of ongoing projects across the State. With Emotan Gardens, we developed and delivered Phase I. For Phase II, of the 147 Housing Units at Emotan Garden City Phase II, 95 units are currently in the finishing stages. At the same time, Joint Venture Agreements (JVAs) have been signed with several private developers to collaborate with ESDPC in developing the Emotan Garden City Phase III.”

On the Golf Mews Project, he said that the project has been handed over to subscribers, noting, “Golf Mews has long been completed and handed over to those who purchased their apartment. In other words, Golf Mews was an outright sale project, and it has been completed. Those who bought Golf Mews have handed the management of the Project to private contractors to maintain and manage the property on their behalf.”

The ESDPC is a new iteration of the old Edo Development and Property Agency (EDPA). The Corporation had to be reimagined to reflect its new mandate of spearheading commercial property development across the State with a view of ensuring commercial viability and delivery of standard built up projects. The success of the Emotan Gardens City is a testament to the corporation’s private-sector facing mandate, which ensures that developments are proposed and completed to the best of standards.
