…charges on unity
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has eulogized a former member representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Constituency at the National Assembly, Jim Aiku Adun on his 80th birthday, hailing his contributions to the development of the State and country.
Speaking at the birthday reception held in honour of the former rep member, in Benin City, the charged Edo people on unity, warning against division or disunity regardless of political, or religious differences.
Other guests at the occasion include former Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Sen. Ehigie Uzamere; former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Pius Odubu, and Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Anthony Aziegbemi.
Others are the PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his running mate and Secretary to Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq.; and former Secretary to Edo State Government, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, amongst others.
According to Obaseki, “As Edo people, we don't celebrate ourselves enough but allow minor issues to separate us. We are special people with great civilization recognized all over the world. We can only celebrate Edo when we celebrate Edo people who have accomplished a lot, like our father, Rt. Hon. Jim Aiku Adun, who is accomplished across generations.
“Adun made indelible contributions in his chosen career and profession. He is a phenomenon and can best be described as a social glue that has helped us come together. In all his roles in life, he has stood out as somebody who brings people together. You have done well, we appreciate you. God has really blessed you.”
Obaseki added, “On behalf of the Government and people of Edo State, we cherish, appreciate, and respect you and thank you for your kind service to the community, State and nation.”
