The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has hailed the commitment and contributions of volunteers in the state, reassuring that his government will continue to empower and support the volunteers to effectively contribute their quota to the development and growth of the state.
The governor said this in commemoration of the International Volunteer Day for Social and Economic Development marked yearly by the United Nations and its sister agencies to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism.

He noted, “Efforts of volunteers cannot be undermined in the social and economic development of any society. From providing essential services to those in need, to supporting economic growth and innovation, volunteers make invaluable contributions to the well-being of communities everywhere. They contribute in every sector and in several organizations. Without volunteers, we will be short of manpower.
“In Edo State, we are fortunate to have a vibrant and dedicated community of volunteers who are committed to making our state a better place. They feature in the world of the Edo State Skills Development Agency. They provide crucial support to many of our key initiatives, from education and healthcare to economic development and environmental protection. We will continue to play our part in supporting and empowering volunteers in Edo State to enable them to do more in advancing social and economic development in the state.
