Institutional reforms: Edo conducts CBT for fresh candidates for employment into public service

The Edo State Government, as part of efforts to sustain ongoing reforms in the state's civil and public service, has conducted Computer Based Test (CBT) for shortlisted candidates for employment into the public service.

The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., while speaking with journalists at the weekend, in Benin City, said the ongoing recruitment exercise is part of revved up efforts by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to strengthen the civil and public service, populating the service with quality manpower for optimal service delivery.

The Head of Service disclosed that the process will ensure that various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government are strengthened to effectively respond to the demands of the people of the 21st century public service.

Okungbowa said the process was transparent and merit-based, adding, "Mr. Governor has constantly stated that the best hands should be brought into the service. He abhors favouritism and any form of nepotism in the recruitment process because he believes that the service should be positioned for optimal service delivery. Just as it happened in last year's recruitment exercise, the Governor has directed that the recruitment should be merit-based."

Urging for the support of residents in the realisation of the government's Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda, Okungbowa asserted that the giant strides of the government in the area of infrastructural development was a testament to its commitment to deliver its campaign promises to Edo people, ensuring improved livelihoods for the people and economic prosperity for the state.
