Edo seals deal for devt of new town with road infrastructure, electricity, others

The Edo State Government has sealed a deal with leading construction firm, Siraj Nigeria Ltd., for the development of its new town project in Oke-Oroma, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The contract was signed on behalf of the state government by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., in the presence of the Assistant General Manager (Technical), Siraj Nig Ltd, Engr Ayodele Abe and officials of the Ministry of Physical planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development and of Edo State New Town Development Agency, at the Government House, Benin City.

Addressing newsmen after signing the contract, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development, ESV Austin Remison, said, “We have signed the agreement between Edo State Government and Siraj Nig Ltd for the new town development and this will give us the way forward for the new town project.”

On his part, Engr Ayodele Abe, noted, "The contract is a detailed masterplan for the new town to be sited in Oke-Oroma, Ward 9, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, containing road infrastructure, electricity, sewage, storm water/drainage system, water network, environmental management system and every other infrastructure that will be used by the inhabitants of the environment.”

He reassured, “We assure the state government that the project is going to be delivered with quality and within the cost estimate bearable for the state. We pledge to be professional and deliver within the stipulated time.”
