The Clan Head of the Osula Royal Family in Benin Kingdom, Chief Iyeke Osula yesterday said Edo people shouldn’t trust the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Chief Osula who led hundred of his supporters, traders from New Building Materials Association, Lagos Street Traders’ Association, Ute Market Development Association, Tyres Dealers Association, Electrical Material Dealers Association and others to the All Progressives Congress, APC at a rally in Benin City described PDP as no-good party; dishonest and unaccountable, urging the people to reject them and their empty promises.
While narrating his connection with the PDP candidate, the Palace Chief said the achievements of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in the last eight years is an eye opener that the PDP looted the state dry.
He said their intention to join the APC is in recognition of the demonstrated consistent people oriented development of the governor adding that they will support Obaseki as part of their contribution to ensuring that the state doesn’t return to dry days.
According to him, “I left the PDP because it is a party in darkness. It cannot win any election in the state again. Pastor Ize-Iyamu is my uncle but I left him because he is not honest. He is not transparent.
“I join because I want to associate with the APC government of Oshiomhole that built good roads. I must commend Oshiomhole for his good works and every other good thing he has done”, he noted.
On his part, the candidate of the APC, Mr. Godwin Obaseki who also addressed the crowd at the rally with traders and artisan said he was happy with the endorsement of the traders.
He said: “before the coming of Comrade Oshiomhole, we didn’t have good roads in Benin City, I was born here and I know how this place was. All those things we’ve done in eight years, we want them to continue. Oshiomhole is the architect, he has laid the foundation and in our continuity programme, we will lay the blocks and continue from there.
He said: “Oshiomhole has done the first phase and we will start the second phase from November. Already, our job-creation promise has started, the Produce City ground-breaking is being done today, Comrade has signed the C.of.O for 150,000 hectares of land, big companies are coming to Edo State and they will provide jobs to the youths of the state.”
