Delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Etsako West, Etsako Central and Etsako East local government areas, have endorsed Mr Godwin Obaseki, as their sole candidate for the party’s ticket ahead of the Kogi State governorship election, slated for September 10. Daily Trust gathered that the endorsement was sealed yesterday, at the instance of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who is also a delegate from the constituency, and would be voting during the APC primary election, which would hold on June, 18.
During the meeting, where the motion for the endorsement was moved, Senator Francis Alimekhena, representing Edo North at the Senate, asked the delegates whether they were coerced by any person to attend the adoption meeting.
They all said no.
The senator then asked for a voice vote to affirm their collective decision to support Mr Obaseki, and they all shouted “yes”.
Thereafter, Senator Alimekhena called on them to be steadfast and committed to the collective decision on supporting the candidature of Mr Obaseki.
Responding, Mr Obaseki commended the decision, with a promise that he will not disappoint them if he emerged as governor.
“Our leader, the comrade governor, has built the party and set Edo State on the path of development. Mine is to continue the good work and to take care of the party and its members,” he said.
