In addition, there are 10,272 pensioners in the state government payroll with a monthly pension payment of N396, 606,403.59. Suffice it to state that payments to the state government pensioners have been effected to date (i.e. July 2016).
It is necessary to state that for those whose gratuities are yet to be paid, it may be due to their failure to show up for the mandatory biometrics precedent to payment, in addition to the late processing of their retirement papers by the officials concerned.
Last year, the government discovered serious financial mismanagement by the senior officials of the Edo State Pension Board. The government thereafter investigated the issue and had concluded a forensic audit of the pension board. The government is set to reposition the board for effective performance.
