The governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, on Saturday, described as inspiring the performance of the Falconets against Tanzania, commending their style of play and finesse on the pitch.
The governor stated this at a post-match conference after the girls defeated Tanzania three goals to nil at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.
Governor Obaseki encouraged the Falconets to put up similar performance in Dar es Salaam, when they face Tanzania for the second leg.
“I want them to repeat this performance with much confidence in their game and be more stable, calculating and accurate,” he said.
He commended Edo people for showing support to the team, noting that their hospitable nature was evident from the crowd turnout.
“We are a very organised, disciplined, progressive and inspiring people. Thank God we had the opportunity to provide leadership quality,” he said.
Governor Obaseki expressed readiness to host future FIFA games, while commending the media for the effective coverage of the game.
