Nine of the aspirants who contested for the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State have predicted that the emergence of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) signifies a victory for the APC. One of them, Charles Airhiavbere, who briefed journalists on behalf of the others, yesterday, said with Pastor Ize-Iyamu as its candidate, the PDP is dead on arrival in the state.
On the condemnation of the APC primaries by two of the aspirants, Dr. Ogienwonyi, and Imasuagbon, Airhiavbere said when all the 12 gubernatorial aspirants went to Abuja, they signed an agreement that whoever wins the primaries would be supported by all.
“A winner has emerged out of the twelve of us, so, we are all obliged to collapse our structure behind him to ensure victory for APC in the September 19 election. This is the position of nine of us who participated in the primaries” he said.
In a related development, gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated Pastor Ize-Iyamu on his emergence as PDP candidate.
A statement signed by the director general of his campaign organization, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, said Edo State politics should be based on issues and solutions for the benefit and progress of the state and its people.
